Tobicho. A seafood restaurant in Enoshima (Kanagawa, Japan. About an hour south, west of Tokyo station) that specializes in ‘shirasu’ (small, clear fish, about an inch long or so. Served raw with soy sauce and/or wasabi, or steamed on top of a variety of foods. This restaurant specializes in ‘-age’ (pronounced “ah-gay”) for deep fried. Here, they put the ‘shirasu’ in a light batter, and deep fry it into the shape of a dish. Served on top of a serving of rice, with some daikon, lettuce, and wakame. There is always a line to eat here on the weekends, often more than an hour is normal.
