first light

It’s winter so I think this is actually before first light , so more like ‘still dark.’ 5:45 AM comes pretty early in most respects. That’s when my alarm goes off; nearly every day except Sunday (sometimes) and Wednesday, when I’m actually out the door at 5:45 AM. My second alarm goes off at 6 AM, and usually I’m still in kind of a haze from my first alarm. But today my ‘haze’ was more like a snooze. A deep snooze. It was one of those days where I don’t remember pushing the snooze button. And the fifteen more minutes of tranquility was …well, actually, I was asleep, so I didn’t really feel anything.  Anyway, so instead of anticipation (or dreading), it was more startling than usual. I don’t really have much of a problem getting out of bed, but I’m not a morning person either. Don’t get me wrong, I’d much rather be asleep on my feather bed and under my down comforter. But it wasn’t cold out today, I knew this because my face wasn’t cold, I could actually feel my ears. Last night I checked the weather forecast–it was supposed to rain.  What does that have to do with anything? Rain usually means that the air pressure is a little lower, warmer and well… not the dry, bone chilling winter weather. But I couldn’t hear the pitter-patter of the rain falling off the storm drains, so I knew it wasn’t raining yet. Probably just cloudy. I’m not sure if those are actual thoughts, maybe unconsciously those things are going through my mind.  My second thought though was, ‘What am I going to wear?’

So, right, time to get up, because that first thought is still there.

It’s no different than most days, like most people I think.

My dad calls it the ‘growler.’  If you’ve been following my past couple of posts, you know what I’ve been eating for the past two days (here and here), meat.. too much meat.

hint? look here or here

‘Remember when you wrote down the first thought you had this morning? Great. Now write a post about it.
